Problem Statement
How might we use dance and movement to help people manage their depression and anxiety?
Why create a dance fitness app?
Problem
The coronavirus, geopolitical uncertainty, and fears of a recession have stressed people more than ever. Many are struggling to stay healthy physically and mentally due to job stress, burnout, and maintaining relationships.
Why is it hard for people to make time to exercise?
Lack of motivation: It’s hard for people to be motivated to exercise if the workouts are boring and not engaging.
Limited access to fitness facilities can make it difficult for people to stay active.
Limited time: Many people have busy schedules and may struggle to find time to exercise.
Dance has proven to be effective at managing anxiety, depression, and any recurring health issues

Personas
After doing my user interviews and creating the affinity map, I decided to move on to creating my two personas for the product. I made these two personas based on the insights I gathered from the interview and also highlighting their key pain points

UI Directions
After making the lo-fi screens for “Jump-In”, the next step was to brainstorm what the UI could potentially look like. I knew I wanted to go for more fun eye-catching colors for the dance app but I also didn’t mind experimenting with more calmer tones as well. I ended up creating three different versions of the design and chose the first one as my direction for the final design.
